PERSONALITY
The Shih Tzu breed is a perfect middle ground dog. They aren't so active they require a lot of activity but they also do like to play. The
y love their family and always want to be near them. They are charmers and sometimes charm their owners out of training. This can lead to a lot of frustration on both parts. It is important for them to know from the beginning what you expect from them.
WHAT ITS LIKE LIVING WITH A SHIHTZU
Shih Tzu bring a lot of love into your home. They get along well with other pets and this makes them a great addition to families who already have other fur babies. They are excellent around children but if they are tinies they need to be supervised by an adult at all times. They do require daily grooming to keep their coats in good condition. I find that a metal comb seems to help keep the hair free
of tangles. A few minutes a day will go a long way in helping keep them well groomed. Just make it a part of your daily routine and you will be glad you did. They need to be crated when you aren't watching them just like babies they can get into things that they aren't supposed to. It is for their own safety and you will find that once they get adjusted to it they will enjoy their time in their quiet
Breed solely to be companions. Shih Tzu are affectionate, happy, outgoing house dogs who love to follow their owners from room to room. They live long lives and most stay playful even in old age. Sometimes they think they are bigger than they are and if a larger dog comes at them they will fight back. So be sure they are kept safe when walking or at a dog park. Never carry a small puppy to a public space until they are fully vaccinated. You are taking a huge risk of your baby contacting something since they aren't fully protected.
